Course overview:
 

This course is aimed at candidates already involved in the design, construction, inspection, and testing of electrical systems, practising electricians with relevant experience, other allied professionals, and related trades needing to update and enhance their understanding of the IEE Wiring Regulations. It is designed to provide candidates with a thorough understanding of the 17th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations, and covers topics such as protection for safety, correct selection and erection of equipment, and inspection and testing to meet the standard of requirement for electrical installations.

 
Course content and modules:
 

There are 8 units that make up this course relating to parts 1-7 and the appendices of BS7671 (2008). The units are as follows:-

 

Scope, object, and fundamental principles.

Definitions.

Assessment of general characteristics.

Selection and erection of equipment.

Inspection and testing.

Special installations or locations.

Appendices.

 
  Entry requirements:

Previous knowledge of the IEE Wiring Regulations is NOT required to enrol on this course, although candidates should have prior knowledge of electrical principles.

4 days.

  Assessment methods:

Candidates are required to undertake a 2 hour multi choice, open book, PC based examination via the City & Guilds 'GOLA' system. Results will be given immediately.

  Course outcome / Qualification:

Successful candidates will obtain Level 3 City & Guilds certification in the Requirements for Electrical Installations and BS7671 (2008) 17th Edition Wiring Regulations certification.
