| Course
overview: |
| |
|
From 1st January
2005, a new section of the building regulations
came into force affecting the installation of
electrical fixed wiring in and around domestic
dwellings. It is now a LEGAL requirement for
electricians, kitchen installers, bathroom
installers, gas installers, and all other trades
involved in carrying out electrical installation
work to comply with PART P of the building
regulations. |

This course aims to
provide candidates with the skills and knowledge
to gain the necessary qualification required by
the electrical self-certification schemes
operated by BRE Certification Ltd, British
Standards Institution, Elecsa Ltd, Napit
Certification Services Ltd, and NICEIC
Certification Services Ltd. |

The course consists
of the following topic areas:- |

Applicable building
regulations. |
|
|
|
Electrical safety
legislation, regulations, standards, and
terminology. |
|
|
|
Domestic electrical
circuit installation. |
|
|
|
Domestic lighting
circuit installation. |
|
|
|
Domestic electrical
earthing and bonding requirements. |
|
|
|
Inspecting, testing,
and commissioning of single phase domestic
electrical circuits. |
|
|
|
Special locations
and installations (including kitchens). |
|
|
|
Domestic electrical
installation pre-work survey and inspection. |
|
|
|
Basic understanding
of 3 phase. |

|

Assessment
methods: |
|
|
Candidate
assessment consists of the following - Unit
1 (Applicable Building Regulations) on-line
multi choice questionnaire consisting of 20
questions which must be completed in a 40
minute time frame. This assessment is marked
externally (Pass mark 14/20). |
|
|
|
If any candidate
fails Unit 1, they will be offered a re-sit
to be scheduled on a date convenient to all
parties concerned. |
|
|
|
Units 2 to 9 are
marked internally, and consists of numerous
multi choice questionnaires and practical
assessments (80% pass mark). |
|
|
|
Course
outcome / Qualification: |
|
|
Candidates will
obtain EAL Certificate for Domestic
Electrical Installers. |
|
|
|
