This course is
designed to educate candidates in the latest
products created to combat harmful bacteria, in
particular the Legionella Pneumophila bacteria,
that develops within our water systems. |

Legionella bacteria and Legionnaire's Disease.
Under general health and safety law, it is a
legal requirement of employers and persons in
charge of buildings to consider the risks from Legionella. The objectives of BPEC's training
materials is to train people to correctly design
and maintain water systems to minimise the risks
of Legionella. |

The Disinfection of
Water Systems. |

The Disinfection of
Water Systems training manual is targeting
operatives who wish to physically disinfect hot
and cold water systems. It explains the
properties of water, with particular focus on
how to prevent the development of the harmful
Legionella Pneumophila bacteria which causes
Legionnaire's Disease. The manual also explains
how an water system should be disinfected, and
also lists the chemicals that are used during
this process. |

a practical demonstration on how to disinfect a
water system correctly. |

Assessment
methods: |

Candidates will
receive a course book 3 weeks prior to their
assessment date in order for them to
complete the self learning modules. On the
morning of the assessment date, candidates
will receive a formal tutorial and review of
their completed workbooks. The afternoon
session will consist of a written
assessment. |

|
Course
outcome / Qualification: |

Successful
candidates will receive BPEC Certification

certification. |
