Level 1 Painting & Decorating

Course Overview:

The Level 1 Painting & Decorating course is designed to prepare candidates wishing to enter the industry with the knowledge, skills and competence required and has been specifically developed for delivery in our purpose built training centre using simulated conditions.

Who is the training for:

No prior training is required for this course which is open to both male and female candidates aged 16 years and over.

Course Duration:

Either 2 weekends (4 days, Saturday and Sunday 8.30am to 5.00pm) or 5 days Monday to Friday from 9.00am to 4.00pm.

Topic Areas Covered:

• Health & Safety requirements
• Scrape and smooth work surfaces
• Fill and smooth cracks
• Apply wallpaper correctly
• Measurement and planning
• Applying emulsion to wall surfaces
• Preparing wooden surfaces
• Applying Primer, Undercoat and Gloss with brushes and rollers

Training and Assessment methods:

This is a 100% hands-on practical training course and candidates will be involved at every stage of the course.

Course Achievements:

Successful candidates will gain the knowledge, skills and competence to allow them to move onto higher level training and assessment.

Progression Routes (following successful completion of this course):

Successful candidates will gain the knowledge, skills and competence to allow them to move onto higher level training and assessment such as level 2 VRQ Diploma in Painting & Decorating.

Additional Information:

Candidates are required to bring suitable clothing and safety footwear when undertaking this course.
