Level 2 QCF Gas Safety Awareness in Domestic Properties (Social and Residential Housing)

Course Overview:

This course has been designed to give an understanding and awareness to non-technical individuals (i.e. call centre staff) who need to gain basic understanding of the technical aspects of gas in order for them to assist with enquiries from tenants, when handling Landlord Gas Safety Records and / or documenting technical reports.

Who is this training course for?:

There are no pre-requisites to this training course and assessment which is open to anyone wishing to:-

• Update and continue their CPD (continuing professional developement)
• Develop their knowledge and understanding in order to gain recognition at a higher level
• Prepare for higher level training

This typically applies to, but is not limited to:-

• Housing Officers
• Private Rental / Social Housing Staff
• Surveyors
• Maintenance Officers
• Call Centre Staff
• Gas Administration Staff

Course Duration:

Topic Areas Covered:

• Overview of gas types used within domestic housing
• Requirements for correct combustion
• Effects of Carbon Monoxide
• Carbon Monoxide Detectors
• Identification of combustion / flue and ventilation problems in gas appliances
• Requirements for Landlords under the Gas Safety Regulations
• Legal Requirements of Gas Installers
• Actions to be taken in the event of a gas leak or the report of fumes

Training and Assessment methods:

Training is delivered in our purpose built training centre by our qualified gas industry experts.  Candidates will be required to complete a written examination consisting of short answer responses and multiple choice questions.

Course Achievements:

Successful candidates will be awarded the Level 2 QCF Gas Safety Awareness in Domestic Properties qualification and certification issued by Cert-ain Certification, a recognized 'Ofqual' awarding organisation.

Progression Routes (following successful completion of this course):

Successful candidates will be able to progress onto other training and assessments, including Gas Foundation Diploma and Disinfection of Water Systems and Risk Assessment.
