Safe Isolation of Electrical Supplies

Course Overview:

The aim of this course is to ensure that candidates are fully aware of, and able to put into practice, the Industry Safe Working Procedure for the Isolation of Electrical Supplies and is underpinned by the requirements laid down by the Electricity at Work Regulations and BS7671

When working on any electrical installation, regardless of its size, it is imperative that operatives apply the correct isolation procedure every time to prevent injury to themselves or other users including other engineers whilst work is taking place.

This course will deliver the knowledge and skills needed to ensure that candidates understand the requirements and can apply them on site.

Who is this training course for?

This course is aimed at existing engineers working within the wider building services industry who have previous knowledge of electrical installations relating to the following trades:-

• Plumbing and Heating Engineers
• Electrical Supervisors and Contractors
• Kitchen Fitters
• White Goods / Appliance Installers
• Multi-Skilled Operatives

Topic Areas Covered:

• Understanding and identifying the current regulatory requirements and documentation
• Understanding the need for Safe Isolation of Electrical Circuits
• Establishing a Safe Working Procedure for the Isolation of Electrical Supplies
• Identifying and using the correct tools for isloating electrical installations
• Applying the skills on realistic simulation

Training Methods:

Candidates will be assessed both practically and via a theoretical examination following full training from our electrical experts.

Course Achievements:

Successful candidates will receive fully recognized Cert-ain Safe Isolation of Electrical Supplies certification of competence.

Progression Routes:

Successful candidates will be able to move onto fully accredited higher level qualifications including:-

• LOGIC Essential Electrics and Boiler Fault Finding
• Level 3 QCF Portable Appliance Testing (PAT)
• Level 3 QCF Requirements for Electrical Installation (18th Edition)
