Disinfection of Water Systems & Risk Assessment

Course Overview / Introduction:

Under general health and safety law it is a legal requirement of employers and persons in charge of buildings to consider the risks from Legionella.  Legionnaire's Disease is caused by inhaling small droplets of water suspended in the air and is typical in areas where water is maintained at a temperature high enough to encourage growth such as cooling towers, spa pools and hot water systems used in both commercial and domestic properties.

This course has been designed to meet the training requirements of the revised Approved Code of Practice (ACOP) L8, and guidance for Legionnaires disease.

Who is this training course for?

This course is aimed at individuals who wish to physically disinfect hot and cold water systems as well as managers who are responsible for the management and maintenance of water systems in residential accommodation (i.e. managers of nursing homes and housing associations).

Course Duration:

1 day - 8.30am to 4.30pm.  This course is available as both an in-house or an on-site training course.

• What is Legionella?
• How is Legionella transmitted?
• Understanding legislation surrounding risk assessment and disinfection of water systems
• Carrying out risk assessments

Training and Assessment methods:

This course is primarily theoretically based with a small amount of practical workshop.

Course Achievements:

Successful candidates will receive the fully accredited Cert-ain certification for the Disinfection of Water Systems and Risk Assessment.
